5 Great Phones for a Young Entrepreneur
Having a phone that is reliable, durable and flexible is a necessity for any entrepreneur in today’s world. A phone that is reliable is the key to ensuring that the great team you have brought together is able to get in touch with you in times of crisis and opportunity. A great phone is also important for the startup hustler who is out there making moves and meeting potential clients, investors, and employees on a daily basis. Simply put, a good phone can make or break you.
As an Entrepreneur, you often need to make choices solely based on cost, still go up against the corporate big guns, and take massive risks when deciding what will and will not have a huge impact on your business. It’s not all sugarplums and lollipops, which is why we have decided to share with you the five best phones for a young entrepreneur.
Read on and share with us any other phones that you may have come across in your adventures as an Entrepreneur.
HTC EVO 4G LTE
I know some of you are thinking I’ve flipped my lid and lost my mind. But hold on for a second. The most recent roll out of the updated firmware for this phone has improved a lot of the bugs that were holding this phone back from being one of the best on the market. I have to say I’ve been constantly drooling over the screen on this device since I first laid my hands on it. If you have a passion for a beautiful design along with the tiny details behind a beautiful user experience this phone is for you. Features include a crisp 4.7-inch high-definition display, 16GB memory, HD Voice technology for clearer calls, a dual-core processor to handle hefty computing tasks, and dual cameras for video calling. Another great feature with this phone is the built-in microSD slot, which would come in handy for anyone who needs a bit of extra space.
Samsung Galaxy S3
While Android phones are flooding the market and can be found around every corner, flagship offerings like the Galaxy S3 that offer high-end features like dual cameras for videoconferencing, a sizable 4.8-inch screen, and voice controls are in shorter supply. This phone is awesome in many ways and is arguably ahead of the pack in terms of its offering. It’s fully-equipped with a quad-core processor capable of speedy number crunching and shoots high-definition video and crisp 8MP images. This device is also armed with voice recognition features that allow you to speak commands to wake up your phone whose screen is shut off and take or end calls. Now, I’m a firm believer in a concept called work hard play hard. Thus, the fact that this phone allows you to play vintage PS1 emulators doesn’t hurt its cause. Tekkon III anyone?
Motorola Droid Razr MAXX
Holy Battery life Batman. The Motorola Droid Razr is the king when it comes to battery life with 20+ hours of continuous talk time. This is the hallmark of this era of performance-minded smartphone, and it will without question meet your needs if you’re working the typical 100 hour work week like most entrepreneurs. This prevents the need to hunt down power outlets in the middle of a crowded airport, or watching your battery putter out as you pitch a VC at a conference before getting their number. This is a phone that could save both time and money. Beyond the battery the Razr MAXX continues to keep me impressed with a beautiful user interface and a handful of surprises such as GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and a mobile hot-spot capability that lets the phone act as a modem for up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Perfect for a team hacking session.
Samsung Galaxy Note
This is far from your average cell phone. It’s one of the devices on this list that you will either love or hate. I lean more towards hate but the fact that I have several entrepreneur friends who swear it’s the best thing since slice bread. This device is far less portable than the average cell phone, but the fact that it offers greater visual real estate and has a flawless touchscreen makes this device attractive to many. One awesome benefit with this phone is that you can easily write down meeting notes, send off emails, showcase video presentations of your product, and when necessary snap a handful of product shots or team photos. At the end of the day, this device is in between that of a tablet and a mobile device. It really depends on what you’re looking to achieve – For me, the size is just too big for my liking. #ModernDayZachMorrisPhone
iPhone 4S
You knew this would be here so don’t act surprised. I’m somewhat of an Apple fanboy but I’m not afraid to say there are cheaper and arguably better options on the market. One great feature you have with the iPhone that you won’t see on the back of its packaging is that you can get a sneak peek at new and potential game-changing apps before they launch on Android (looking at you Instagram). Some of the great features on this phone include a dual-core A5 processor that loads apps faster and a 8MP camera for snapping beautiful images sharper. But these aren’t the features that make heads turn. The addition of Siri, a voice-controlled personal assistant who will set reminders, plot calendar appointments and search for nearby businesses when traveling is a major benefit for the entrepreneur who is always on the go. Combine that with the amazing interface, awesome built-in functions, and unrivaled library of downloadable apps which allows it to become a bank, finance department and well… There’s a reason why the iPhone 5 is already sparking more conversations than any other product online.
