A growing number of small businesses who are not technology related are turning to online, software as a service type applications to help them run and manage their day to day operations. One such business is Sport and Spinal Physiotherapy, based in the UK.  Run by Liz Atha and based in Leeds, Sport physioand Spinal Physiotherapy offers a range of services covering sports, dance and spinal physiotherapy to a wide range of clients, including footballers, cricketers and the Northern Ballet.

Liz quickly understood that she needed to embrace some of the technologies out there to help her to manage her business.  The areas she needed to focus on were: management of her customer contacts, a diary of appointments for the clinics and management of her books.  In addition, she needed a customer-facing window to the business that was attractive and encourage clients to pick up the phone to call Sport and Spinal Physiotherapy, rather than any of the competitiors!

Liz admits, however, that she is a real technophobe! “I was doing well putting a banner on my facebook page and can just about navigate my iPad,” she said, recently.  “I’d heard about these applications that come over the internet, that don’t need any special skills.  I was keen to look into anything that would be easy to use and that I wouldn’t have to pay a fortune for IT technical people to get me up and running, ” said Liz.  A search on the internet found a treatmentsfew options for Liz and she opted for Central Desktop.

Central Desktop meant I could pay a monthly premium and the whole team could get access.  We have set up a list of contacts for our clients and we have an online diary that all of the team members have access to.  It couldn’t be simpler.  We started with the free trail account to see how it went but we quickly found it became invaluable to us. Before that, we were managing our clients and our appointments on paper!  In this day and age, it was antiquated”

The new Sport and Spinal Physiotherapy website went live earlier this month, too.
