Feng Office 2 is Here!
Feng Office 2.0 is coming after a year in the making! It is in beta at the moment but is now being offered to new clients and
comes with a whole range of new features to support businesses.
FengOffice is one of the more recent additions to the collaborative project management applications space on the market today. Starting it’s life as the Open Source application, OpenGoo, it quickly emerged as an new commercial product in its own
right. It is available with 3 different pricing options that range from $68 per month to $299 per month.
The new release has two areas to it:
- The Feng Office core: the collaboration platform that provides the functionality allowing users to work closely together even when distributed geographically.
- The Plugins: additional functionality to support business and organization needs that can be added as extras to the core offerings, known as Editions.
Feng Office Editions – the Plug-ins
Each of the Feng Office Editions is designed to support a specific business need and cover the following:
- Community Edition (CE) : aimed at non-commercial organizations and teams rather than profit-making businesses. This edition centers around Workspaces and the use of Tags. It is essentially the same as Feng Office version 1.7 and will be released for use as an Open Source application.
The Community Edition will be offered at a discount of 30% for non-profit making organizations, Research and Academic institutions. (Qualifying organizations will be required to prove their legal status).
- Professional Edition (PE) : aimed at commercial and profit-making organizations, offering professional services and other businesses focused around knowledge bases. This edition centers around Clients and Projects, with the ability to include additional features such as, Prospects, Campaigns, Workspaces, Leads, to name but a few, according to the needs of the business. Another useful feature included as part of the Professional Edition are other finance management functions, such as, invoicing, budgeting and management of expenses.
Feng Office will be offering its customers the option to upgrade to the new version, although the current version of Feng Office (version 1.7) will continue to be provided as a service for all Feng Office customers, at the same price, for those who wish to remain unchanged. As the new version of Feng Office has some significant structural changes, migrations from the older version will, initially, be done as required by customers on a steady basis.
