Hot! Which Project Management Application Would a Small Company Go For?

  • Sharebar

Equinox-Apps is a mobile software company based in the UK but with a worldwide market that specializes in the development oComindworkf equestrian mobile apps. Currently developing for the iOS and Blackberry platforms, with plans to expand into Android, too, this company has quickly mastered its approach to collaborative project management.

The latest app releases include the BE Dressage Tests app for Blackberry and Horse Stretching Exercises for iOS, both of which are selling well worldwide.  So, how does Equinox-Apps tackle its project management given that the principle partners are equestrian experts rather than technology or project experts?

Babs Gibbs, Managing Partner of Equinox-Apps, says: “We’re a small company and we contract in development resource to supplement our in-house capacity, as we’ve grown in size.  We work in a distributed way which means we’ve got to be really good at sharing information on each of the projects we have under way at any point in time.”

Having investigated and trying out a number of different on-demand, internet based project management applications, theEquinox Apps company finally settled for Comindwork.  Comindwork, out of Kiev in the Ukraine, is a collaborative project management application, accessed through the cloud, with an easy to use and navigate interface.

So why choose Comindwork?

“We needed a tool that would let us give access to specific projects to the contractors we commission, but we don’t necessarily want to share everything on every project with them, so access control was an important factor to us.  We need to be able to bring our team together in real time, so the chat facility and online meetings allow us to do this to support our disparate way of working.  We started with the free account and moved to a subscription base when we needed to.  Then, there’s the simple question of usability.  I’m a bit of a technophobe so I need something that’s relatively simple to use!”

Babs added: “It’s probably a bit more expensive than some others on the market, we tried Central Desktop, initially, for example, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for us, but we’d rather pay that little bit more – we reap the benefits when our apps are delivered as quality products through well run projects that see collaboration and communications as integral to their success.”
