Project management is a skilled profession that is advancing year on year. With the advent of sophisticated online tools to PMI1support all aspects of project management, like, Basecamp, Central Desktop and AtTask, to name just a few, the project management world has much to offer in terms of innovative practices.

The Project Management Institute (PMI), through its annual awards, recognizes excellence within the different areas of the project management industry and is an opportunity for professionals to be credited for their outstanding skills, innovation and hard work in this challenging and competitive arena.

The headline award is the highly valued PMI Project Manager of the Year and one which any project manager would be extremely proud to have on their shelf!  Other awards include the PMI Distinguished Project Award and the PMI Eric Jenett Project Management Excellence Award.

Individuals can nominate others or, indeed, apply themselves for the 2013 PMI awards now.  The call for nominations for this PMI2year’s awards went out on 1st Nov, 2012 and the deadline for receipt of submissions is 1st April.

Each of the annual awards is free to enter and will be judged independently by panels of suitably qualified and experienced evaluators from all over the world and the majority of the awards will be presented at at the PMI Global Congress-North America which will be scheduled in the last quarter of 2013.

Jan Birley

Jan holds a PhD in computing and started out in software development and IT training. She built a strong career as a project and program manager focusing on IT in the Health Service sector. Jan specializes in taking greenfield and immature services/departments to effective business-as-usual operation and is currently responsible for the delivery of clinical assessment forms into a high profile clinical system. Jan has authored 100′s of articles on project-management related topics.
